Pitcher, 6.75 inches tall (17cm). Brown transfer. Printed maker's mark for Stonier, Hollinshead & Oliver. This pattern features a large dove perched on a branch of a magnolia tree with flowers, buds, and leaves. This foliage stretches around the body of the pitcher and also appears on the inner and outer rim, and the handle.
In 1875 Messrs. Hollinshead & Stonier, at that time of the Ranelagh Works, were joined in partnership by Mr. Holmes and removed to the Upper Hanley Works where they carried on the business under the style of Holmes, Stonier and Hollinshead until 1882. Then it was changed to Stonier, Hollinshead and Oliver. Their productions were the more useful classes of earthenware and white granite for the home, American, Cape, and Australian markets.
