Mug, 3.375 inches tall. Brown transfer. Printed maker's mark for Whittaker, Heath & Co. This pattern features large blossoms on one side of the cup with leaves trailing around to the opposite side. The border is composed of squares divided into triangles, infilled with lines and repeated.
Whittaker, Heath & Co. was one of a brief series of partnerships of earthenware manufacturers, operating the Ballfield Pottery, built in 1882) in Hanley, Staffordshire. The original partners were Lewis Whittaker, James Edge, Samuel Heath, John Henry Weatherby, and Robert Rowley. Whittaker, Edge & Co: 1882-1886. Whittaker & Co: 1886-1892.
