Plate, 10.5 inches diameter. Black transfer with polychrome clobbering. Maker's mark for Powell, Bishop & Stonier. Registry diamond for 6 December 1880 gives the date the pattern was registered. The pattern features two overlapping Japanesque fans with ribbons tied to the handles. The smooth-edge fan contains an image of two birds with leafy branches against a cloudy sky. The scallop-edge fan contains an image of a pond with cattails in the foreground, the pond in the middle ground, and a grassy bank with trees in the background. Both fans are superimposed over delicate trailing leafy branches. On the opposite side of the fan design is a blooming branch with two perched songbirds. A songbird in flight approaches from the left.
