Bowl, 5.375 inches diameter. Brown transfer. Printed maker's mark for Whittaker & Co. An octagonal cartouche sits in the center of the plate. It contains a rural scene with an arched bridge, river and simple house. Trees complete the scene. Lush foliage of several varieties is placed behind the cartouche and in places overlaps it.
A brief series of partnerships of earthenware manufacturers, operating the Hallfield Pottery, built in 1882) in Hanley, Staffordshire.
