Sam Coronadois an internationally recognized artist, whose work is held in the collections of the Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington D.C., the Benson Latin American Collection at the University of Texas, and many others. He is widely considered an importantfigure in the Chicano art movement;he is also a co-founder of the Mexic-ArteMuseum in Austin, Texas. In addition, Coronado taught at ACC for decades and was highly regarded for his extraordinary abilities in mentorship and advocacy for the arts.This sectionwill feature a selection of paintings and screen prints by Coronado. Focusing on themes of social justice and Latino/a life, these works will contextualize his personal artistic practice.
