The greek goddess Calypso, being a loyal daughter, supported her father Titan in the war with the Olympians. She was punished by Zeus and exiled to the magical island of Ogygia. There she remained a prisoner in a gilded cage. I have always been fascinated by Calypso as she represents many of the ageless restrictions placed on women as well as the manipulative strategies they are forced to employ because of those restrictions. I named this piece Ogygia only because it reminded me of a magical island - the rest of the story is my own association. What is yours?
