This artwork is constructed from stone, paper and wood. The back ground is a painted surface. The imagery was based on a photo of tree branches covered in a layer of rime frost. In the foreground is a sculptural shape carved from maple wood. A mosaic of birch bark, rice paper and alabaster stone is overlaid on the carved maple. Each "feather" is hand shaped and polished from the alabaster. Blending into the stone feathers are the birch bark feathers. there is an aluminum strip that defines the spiral shape. Filling that space is are layer upon layer of rice paper.
