This small painting was created en plein air during a winter snow fall. My fellow plein air artist retreated to the house for cookies and warm beverages. I generally work in oil paint during the winter, but this day I attempted a small ink painting. The water I was working with froze on the paper creating a masking so when I applied ink the ice covered paper retained it's white surface once the ice melted indoors. En Plein Air is always full of surprises and adventure.
