This framed 15" x 11.75" watercolor on paper by Serbia-born, Texas-based artist Vojna Bastovanovic Casteel is an abstract work that primarily features hues of reds, yellows, greens and blues. A yellow green, like a leaf losing chlorophyll, is seen in the top left-hand corner, mirrored by a deep plum shade in the bottom left. The top half center of the composition is painted in vermillion, contrasted beneath by a sky blue. The individual forms that make each color are from droplets of the water-based paint that have dried, which is also responsible for the gradient of color in some cases.

Bastovanovic Casteel's artwork is highly influenced by the Expressionism movement and different elements of nature, including animals and flora. Her works use bold, yet calm color to evoke emotion. The work is contrasted by a black, almost-shadow box-like frame.
