This 12" x 16" work on paper by Oklahoma-based artist Beth Hammack appropriates oil paint into a textured formation resembling a geologic formation. Hammack combines her mathematical background and instincts in design to pave the way for her painting style; her technique is to use a layer on layer format to present the otherwise two dimensional subject as three dimensional. The work is the first of two works, both titled Rock Formation (I and II respectively). Both works are framed in a silver floating frame measuring 17" x 22".
Beth Hammack is an artist local to Oklahoma City. She graduated from the University of Oklahoma, and has studied at the Chicago Art Institute as well as the London City School of Arts. Her work is held in a number of private collections and a handful of corporate locations.
