Bio

Clare Clum is the maker behind Rock Wren Jewelry, after graduating with a Masters of Science in Graphic Design from La Roche College Pittsburgh, PA, Clare apprenticed with a small woman owned jewelry studio. This is the moment where she found her career and passion. Clare has diligently followed this passion, attending jewelry trade school in Oregon, becoming a production jeweler in Colorado, then as a goldsmith repairing and designing jewelry in Helena, Montana and finally opening her own studio in 2013.

Artist Statement

I have always been intrigued with the miniature- drawing tiny pictures, collecting rocks, twigs and little rusty things, when I found the world of metal smithing it was a perfect fit. I love working with gemstones, cut and polished or rough and natural. The Montana sapphire has been a beautiful inspiration for me and has informed much of my recent work. I am excited by all of their colors and textures! I’m proud of my background in jewelry production and repair. It has distilled my work into clean, well built pieces that feel comfortable to wear.

Jewelry means so many different things to people, love, celebration, a milestone, remembrance. I am always honored and humbled that a bit of myself gets to become a part of that.
