This is a study of a smaller painting I did last year called “Design.” Could I sustain the same “flow,” of line, and ambiguity of figure ground in a lager scale. So the size enlarge by sixteen, (from 12″ X 16″ to 48″ X 64″) but the brush size only doubled. (From 6 to a 12). The greens, blues, and violets were indeed fun to play with. I had intended to add raw umber to the white, but in the end again used a warmer ocher. I listen to many things when I paint, frequently while painting this work I listened to Mozart’s Piano Concerto #21. (Yeol Eum Son’s rendition.) The Allegro, and this painting seem to match.
