It was joyful making this painting! I really enjoyed the journey that it took me on.
I was playing with the line between a representational 'view' and an abstraction of it. At the same time I was pushing the contrast between thick and thin layers. You can see this clearly in the sky where the clouds in places are finely blended wisps of paint, that look almost vaporous, and then there are exuberant slabs of full bodied paint that bring the main cloud shape forward in a bold yellow statement!
The title also has duality; the view hints at distant mountains and the feeling of travelling through the landscape, but behind that is my personal feeling of 'adventure' that the painting process itself gave me. x
