I have been the fortunate owner of a rescue dog. When Phoebe came to live with me she was a timid, frightened little dog; afraid of her own shadow. Throughout my years as her human, I delighted to see her march around the yard with her head and tail high as if she owned the place. I saw her learn to jump up on the sofa, bark down the neighbor dog and dance at the very suggestion of "food."
