María Camp creates abstract paintings, primarily using heavy body and fluid acrylics, often in the same painting, along with a variety of mediums and an assortment of contour tools. Layering and texture are often important parts of her creative process. Most paintings are created on cradled wood panels.
Maria's painting, "Butterfly Spring," was in the 2016 Alabama Spring Art Show at High Cotton Arts in Athens, Alabama. During that time, her recycled art sculpture, "Owl in Flight," was on display at Lowe Mill Arts Center in Huntsville, Alabama; it was entered in the September 2016 North Alabama State Fair and won third place in its category. Her painting entitled "Crazy Eyes" won a first place ribbon.
Maria's paintings have also been displayed at the Kennedy-Douglass Center for the Arts, the Tennessee Valley Art Museum, and the Killen Public Library. Paintings are available at Art & More, a gallery in Florence, Alabama, as well as online. She also takes commissions. Art is sold as María Camp Fine Art & Happy Anvil Art.
María is a member of the Shoals Artists Guild and the Huntsville Art League. Additional interests include: photography, editing, writing, and attending plays.
