Waiting for sunrise, we sat in the truck and sipped coffee from our trusty Thermos...we'd driven from Study Butte in the dark to watch the sunlight strike Big Bend National Park from the turn off to Burro Mesa PourOff. Waiting there, watching sunrise reminded me how every dawn marks a fresh beginning to life.
This painting is richly detailed, layered in luminous unblended color to create the sense of first light striking the mountain tops and prickly pear.
