This piece is available as a high quality, archival print, on canvas, stretched and ready to hang or on rag paper, with pigment-based inks.
The image is based on a tree at Balmoral on the beachside. These trees are spaced far enough apart that they can expand in any direction and they can grow to get the best sunlight. This one, clearly the type of fig that throws enormous numbers of aerial roots, has apparently had these aerial roots trimmed by the Council for its unknown reasons. The tree's response seems to have been to produce more and more of these attempts to reach the ground from its branches. The effect is of a nest, a swirl, a mass of lines and shapes that I find beautiful. Not for the first time, this gives, for me, the effect of the tree producing its own colours, sometimes glowing and metallic ones.
