Illumination II

I thought it would be fun to try the same painting in both watercolor (top image) and oil (bottom image). What surprised me was the change in the feeling each conveyed. Of course, the image is all about the strong light and the spring colors, but the change in medium altered the personality of the end product. Very interesting results.

After painting this scene in watercolor, I thought it would be interesting to paint the same image in oil - to see how the paint medium would influence my interpretation of the landscape. The difference was surprising. Each version communicates a different feeling, but both focus on strong lighting and spring color. This piece is lightly varnished.
