About the Artist
"Sharing my awe and reverence for the natural order and beauty of this planet is my passion and purpose. Through observation and creation, I have found pondering the rich visual world in which we live to be a powerful antidote to the anxiety, stress, and complexity of life."
James L Johnson earned a BFA from BYU-Idaho in 2008, and and an MFA from the Academy of Art University in 2012. He has won numerous awards for his work, including a recent honorable mention and full-page feature in Southwest Art magazine. His influences include Edgar Payne, Vincent Van Gogh, Walter Rane, Albin Veselka, Josh Clare, Leon Parson, Morgan Weistling, and Mian Situ. He lives, paints and teaches in eastern Missouri, USA with his wife and painting partner, Crystal Johnson (you can follow her work at crystalj.net). They manage to juggle their 'artventures' together with 3 beautiful toddlers only by the grace of God.
