This is my interpretation of Spring in North Texas as experienced through my elderly neighbor's small cattle ranch. At the time this was painted, 3 x 3' was a large painting for me. Now I create paintings more than three times size, but this one took as much time, and maybe a little more, than the much larger paintings. This was one of the first paintings where I really explored extensive layering. Where I sought to suspend time in the physical space of the painting.
The love and layers that went into this painting and the two Spring Time paintings is so much larger than the canvas size inducates. Life is like that. Life is like Dr. Who's Tardis, it is larger on the inside.
