SOLD - Angie Jones's 2013 painting "Senora Kahlo"
"Feet, what do I need you for when I have wings to fly?" — Frida Kahlo
The original painting has SOLD.
This piece vibrates when viewed with 3D anaglyph glasses.
This geometric Frida Kahlo portrait by Angie Jones is based on a photo taken by the Hungarian photographer Nickolas Muray for Mexican Vogue 1939. This portrait addresses a discourse and a blurred line between icon and portrait in a post-digital age. Using faceted surfaces (similar to low polygon video game art) I re-vision the image from Vogue magazine. Through this portrait, I am creating something new, from something old and making it new again.
In addition to the painting, a limited edition giclée prints of 50 24 x 18 in. print on archival ultra smooth watercolor paper, signed and numbered by artist.
