We wanted to create a showpiece using bottle caps, and were inspired by the elegance of evening wear in the early 20th century. We settled on the street cape concept since the form is not common in today's fashion and it would allow for interesting creative elements to be used (ie, riveting and leather on the arm hole, connecting of fabric pieces using the bottle caps). The bright orange of the bottle caps is balanced with the neutral black wool upper and blue/black lining. In person, this garment is a feast for the senses. With movement the light reflects off the caps and rings, and it makes a slight jingling sound – like hundreds of tiny bells.
