Artist: William Walmsley (American, 1923-2003)
American printmaker. Walmsley was inspired by art in Paris while servign in the military in ally-occupied France. He returned to pursue a fine arts degree in Alabama, but moved back to Paris junior year to study at Academie Julian. He also studied at the Art Students League in NY. During the 1960s, he began his lithography series "Ding Dong Daddy," which used the comedic nhilistic character Ding-Dong Daddy to critique American Culture and lampoon Art Culture.
