Fashion is a form of self-expression. It allows us to present ourselves in different ways according to needs and situations. It is linked to art and design, lifestyle, and behavior.
This series is an exploration of fashion trends over the years and the empowerment they offer to the women wearing them. It is created using decoupage collage of book and magazine pages, as well as painted and various collected papers to create a layered effect of different poses mixed with imagery, patterns and texts revealed partially in a peekaboo fashion. The way we reveal a different aspect of ourselves through the different fashion styles we select to wear.
Environmentally conscious, I always try to reduce my footprint and reusing paper, feels like a path in the right direction. I also love the outcome that is as playful and fascinating as the subject of fashion itself. These are small scale, intimate works, about the size of a magazine page, presented mounted matted to 14”x11”and framed to 15”x12”
