This sepia painting was inspired by a photo of my mother taken in May, 1939. It was a college photo from Cornell University where she was majoring in Architecture. She had entered a beauty contest, which she won. I was fascinated by the period Hairdo, so I felt comShe had entered a beauty contest - and won. She died from cancer when she was only 56 years old. This is also a tribute to her life. She was an amazing, accomplished, wonderful woman and mother. This piece is the third painting in an ongoing series of sepia paintings inspired by old family photographs.
