Why a web based platform?
In many ways you can think of us as a content hosting service. We host your data and provide various unique ways to track and view your artwork, gallery showings, sales, and more. We are able to provide you access to your account from anywhere in the world. Any smartphone or internet connected computer gives you full access to your data. We also take care of the backups and continuity of your data. Getting a new computer or losing your old one? Your data is always safe here. The modest yearly fees we charge are to provide the infrastructure and development efforts to bring this to you. We are a small software company and are dedicated to making this work for the artists.
Why do we charge a yearly fee?
Our first priority is to create a long term sustainable community for artists to catalogue, track, and archive their work. As a web based platform our costs occur monthly and yearly. As such, we feel that the only way to ensure long term guaranteed service, is to charge a very modest yearly fee to keep the site going strong year after year. We will often run promotions and give aways where you can build up your month count for no additional charge. Sign Up Now.
What if I choose to cancel my account?
You will never lose access to the content you have stored on Artwork Archive. Once your current year is up all your data will remain on Artwork Archive in a "view only" mode. You will have full access to your existing content, but will not be able to update or add anything new. We will never delete your data (unless you want us to) and we will never block you from your account.
Non paying members are also restricted from some of the advanced reporting features and their "public" pages might be restricted a bit. It's hard for us to host content without getting paid for it.
If you choose to become a paying member again, your account will pick up right where you left it.
Is my data public?
No. Your information is completely private. This is a personal piece of software that just happens to be web based. We are not creating a social network for artists. We are providing a service application for working artists to track, collect, and archive every aspect of their work.
If we decide to add the features of a public profile or communication page for you as an artist or for your individual pieces it will be only as an opt-in basis and you will have complete control over what is displayed public and what is not.
